My friend, Mark, who I work with & his family went through an ordeal a few years ago when their daughter was having treatment for leukaemia. 

To support other families in similar situations, they set up the ForAva Foundation which helps children and their families through difficult times. 

The charity supplies "Be there" boxes to children in isolation filled toys and books etc. To get a Be There Box, every family fills out a referral form, which tells them a bit about what their child likes so we can fill their box with items that we know they will enjoy.

Every year they also have a drive to collect advent calendars for Alder Hey and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in the run up to the festive season to give those kids stuck in hospital something to look forward to each day in December. 

It's a really great charity, not only do the kids and their families get a lift out of the boxes and calendars but the nurses and doctors love seeing them being delivered too.
