Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

The Charity turns the dreams of disabled people of all ages, and those who care for them, into reality. The recipients have to be recommended by an organisation and those receiving a Sporting Chance have to raise funds for a charity other than Give them a Sporting Chance. www.givethemasportingchance.com

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

My name is Jeffery Nokes, and this year I am running the Virgin London Marathon for the first time in aid of the brilliant charity that is 'Give Them a Sporting Chance'.

'Give Them a Sporting Chance' was founded in 1991, and has significantly impacted the lives of many since its creation. The charity gives severely disabled people of all ages, wherever in the world, the opportunity to bring some happiness into their hard lives. They work extremely hard to grant these special people once in a lifetime experiences such as hang gliding over the Swiss Alps for a young woman with severe cerebral palsy, to extremely valuable music therapy lessons to a developmental playgroup. Even something as insignificant as a trip to London to us can mean a priceless chest of memories for a group of disabled students and their families.

But 'Give them a Sporting Chance' does not just stop there.

They are different from other charities. They ask the recipient of the chance to then try to raise money for another charity of their choice, except 'Give Them a Sporting Chance', so that the true spirit and goodness of charity is spread, allowing others to benefit from their hard work. And 'Sporting Chances' is there to help and motivate them all the way.

So by donating and raising money for this charity, we are effectively raising money for many others as well.

The benefits of fundraising for this charity are so easy to see. Please help provide those cherished moments to men, women and children who deserve them so much.

Please ensure that every training session, every step on the treadmill, every jog round the block and every one of the 26 miles on The Big Day count as much as they could.

Thank you.
