Well here am I now 63 years old and none the wiser as I m running the Bristol 10k run with about 600 Love Runners! Well ok God has helped me a little bit and I am wiser because I am a reborn Christian. God has taught me a few lessons lately, like helping others who are far worse off than ever I was.
So what did God do to turn me round a little bit and start thinking about my fellow human beings a lot more? Well he introduce to me a few years ago, via my daughter Jo and my dear friends Sandra, Steve, George and Greg to a Church called Highgrove. From the start I found Highgrove different to what I had experience before, and lately I become aware of Woodlands Church, which Highgrove is part of.
So how did I come to join the Bristol 10K run? Well I went to the 2009 Bristol 10K run last year as my daughter Jo and great friends Sandra, George and Greg were running in it. Despite my usual laid back manner, I was swept away by it all, first with the number of people who were taking part, Love Running being a part of it, the way it was so professionally organised and the community side of it i.e. the friendly cheering and encouragement from the large crowd of watchers. Then there is the reason why you are doing it i.e. the charities that the runners are running for with the massive benefits that the funds can achieve,
the aim this year is to raise £100K. So how could I resist not doing it this year? I CANNOT!! The Charities help all sorts people in a far worse position that I was ever in. The charities are
World Vision - Zimbabwe, Stop the Traffik, and the Bristol Charities: The Crisis Centre, St Peters Hospice and The Noise. For details of the charities please go to:
www.woodlandschurch.net/love-running-charities . They help the most deprived and most vulnerable people on earth far worse off then anyone of us can imagine, so please, please support me.
