Story
Hi there,
Thank you for visiting my special Brazil ride page.
All of you who know me are, I am positive, very surprised to see this page. After many years of acting as a motorcycle marshal and organiser of various bicycle rides for Norwood, I have finally been persuaded to accept the challenge and take part in a ride myself.
As I write this in March 2005 I am 2 stone overweight, having recently quit smoking. I have never trained for anything, and have never been involved in any active sports, and yet I have agreed to take part in one of Norwood's most challenging rides so far, cycling off-road, through barren mountainous regions in Brazil from Sao Paolo to Rio de Janeiro.
And why am I doing this? Because I am mad!! No, actually I am doing it because I believe deeply in the cause that I am raising money for. (For those of you not familiar with all the great work that Norwood do, have a look at www.norwood.org.uk) I am doing it because I want to do my bit to help, and I am doing it because I know that riding alongside me will be some of the guys who really know what Norwood is all about. Those who live at the Village and form part of the tandem teams that take part in every Norwood ride. Its not going to be easy, but I have already started training, and by the time the ride starts in September, I intend to be fit and ready for the challenge. As this is my first ride, I have set myself a high target and intend to raise £10,000 so I really need your help desperately to achieve this. Putting your hand into your pocket and digging deeply is considerably easier than what I have set myself, so please, please help me and sponsor me online.
