To start off this challenge, as Dream Beams’ youngest ambassadors, Jemima and Annabelle are taking on all of the Three Peaks of Cheshire on December 5th 2020, to raise essential funds to help raise funds for a local charity, supporting children’s mental health.

The aim is to undertake the 15 mile trek summitting Teggs Nose, Shutlingsloe and White Nancy. This will take us from sunrise to sunset on what will probably be a cold, wet 5th of December day.... We might well have to set out before sunrise to ensure we get back before dark, as there are only eight hours of daylight on December days in the UK. 

Due to coronavirus, we had to cancel our National Three Peaks Challenge.  This was a huge disappointment, but under the circumstances, we had no choice.

The situation with lockdown is so uncertain and being unable to plan things is even more uncertain, but there is still one thing we are certain about, we still have strong feet and bodies to carry us and we have an even stronger passion to want to help others. That need has never been felt more than right now, as the ever-increasing demand for help with children and young people suffering with mental health problems is on the rise due to the effects of lockdown.

This is what has spurred us on to decide to go ahead with such a challenge. We have tried to focus on the positive things we can do in lockdown instead of the things we can’t and trekking/climbing is definitely one of those things!

Why not join in?

You, your family, or as restrictions alter, your team, can decide to take on the Three Peaks of Cheshire any time between now and July 2021.

We wish to make this an inclusive challenge, not only to raise money for a good cause, but also to inspire others to set an achievable goal whilst stretching themselves physically. Being outdoors is so good for mental health and this is what the whole purpose of this challenge encompasses...      

There are three options to undertake the Dream Beams Cheshire Peaks Challenge. 

1. Three Peaks over three different days, you decide your days between now and July 2021 – suitable for little legs or legs that are setting a fitness challenge - breaking it into 3 stages, (4.5, 4.5, 6 miles)

2. A single 6.5 mile trek.

3. The Three Peak Challenge in one day (15 miles) Jemima and Annabelle will be taking this option.

Personally, as Chair of the Dream Beams Charity, lockdown has taught me many things but the one thing I feel more now than ever is that when you have an opportunity to do something, don’t wait, just go for it! None of us know what is indeed around the corner, so instead of waiting for a better time like the summer, we will try our best to complete this challenge and anybody who knows us, 100% understands this...

All funds raised will go to a local charity called Visyon, who support the emotional health of children, young people and their families in the Cheshire and Staffordshire Moorlands areas.   Visyon offer one-to-one therapy, therapeutic groupwork and play, family support work, creative activities, mentoring, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and parent support groups.
