Children and adults with Down’s syndrome are all unique individuals with their own personalities, family backgrounds and preferences that make them who they are. We aim to create the conditions that all people with Down’s syndrome need to live full and rewarding lives.

Story

Finley was born in July 2014. Just over an hour after he was born we were given the news that Doctors thought he had Downs Syndrome. This was a complete shock to us and we had no idea what the future would bring.

The first few days were a blur, but I spent a lot of nights in hospital doing Google searches and I read a lot of information on the website of the Downs Syndrome Association. This is when I started to realise we would be OK and we could do it.

20 months later, Finley has brought so much joy and happiness to our lives. He has changed our lives for the better and he has made us better people. We wouldn't change him for the world and we love that he is so special.

Through Finley, we have met new friends, had some amazing experiences and been overwhelmed by the support offered by charities such as the DSA and also the NHS and local council run services.

Our little man will take a bit longer to do most things that other families maybe take for granted. But, it just means that each milestone he does reach is a massive achievement.

He makes us proud every single day and we are so happy he chose us as his family. We are so lucky.

The DSA provide huge amounts of help and support to families just like us - and so the work they do is vital. If you could give just £1, that could make a huge difference to other families receiving the diagnosis who have no idea what it means and what the future may hold.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
