Great North Run 2015 · 13 September 2015 ·

The North East Trust for Aphasia (NETA) supports people with aphasia and their carers. Aphasia means difficulties with communication, often following stroke. The person with aphasia can have problems speaking, understanding, reading and writing. This can have major effects for both the person and their family in terms of social life, work and relationships.

Story

Over 152.000 people in the UK suffer a stroke. Thats over 12.000 per month. One Third of these will be diagnosed with ''APHASIA''. This is a condition that will affect speech, reading and writing. It could happen to any one of us at any time. This charity is in serious need of local help. My BIG sis Jen had a stroke some 13 years ago. She has ''APHASIA''. Never once have I heard her complain, but I know how frustrating she must feel when trying to ask or tell you something. Once a week she goes to her local ''APHASIA'' centre with lots of other people for help. This centre is self funding and a great asset to the people who attend. PLEASE dig deep and help us get to the target we have set ourselves. Cheers Jen & Ed
