London 2 Brighton Challenge 100km · 23 May 2020
Following the Government announcement outlining the roadmap out of lockdown, we have received confirmation that our 100km (62.5mile) walk from London to Brighton will be going ahead this year as planned on the 29th May 2021. Obviously, if the Governments planned unlock dates change this may still affect the walk but we are confident that it will take place. The nerves have definitely set in between us all now - Are we ready? Can we do this? Can we get enough training in? Are we mad? – These are all questions we’ve been asking ourselves over the last couple of weeks!
To recap: Four of us from Chailey - Nathan Johnson, Chloe Eke, Stuart Knight and me - have decided to sign up to walk 100km (62.5 miles) continuously from Richmond Park in London to Brighton racecourse, starting on the morning of Saturday 29th May 2021, and hopefully finishing on Sunday 30th May 2021. Just finishing this challenge will be a huge achievement but we would like to finish in as close to 24 hours as we can, although they do allow you up to 36 hours. This is a continuous challenge, there will be no stopping overnight for sleep, no stopping at a pub for a nice pint or pub lunch 😞 – this might hit me especially hard as the route goes almost right past my house around the 60-70km mark. There are rest stops along the way to refuel, go to the loo and receive any medical treatment you might need. Mentally and physically, this is going to be tough!
Ibstock plc - Proud to be supporting Shelter. We are extremely proud and excited to be partnering with Shelter. We're working with them to raise awareness and vital funds to support people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing. A home is a fundamental human need and a basic moral right, as vital as education or healthcare. But in Britain today, that right is being denied to millions of people whose lives are blighted by homelessness, bad conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. As 4,750 people sleep on the streets on any given night and 90,000 households are stuck in unsuitable temporary accommodation, such as homeless hostels, we believe we must contribute to the solution through our products, skills and fundraising.Help us reach our target of £50,000 in our first year to make a difference to the lives of homeless people and those at risk of homelessness. Thank you very much for your support.
