Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Here I am again, tackling another half marathon. Why? Because until there is a cure, there is no finish line.

Not only will I be taking on the mental challenge (and the hills I've heard about) of running 13.1 miles on the day, I also pledge to run 400 miles between now and September 12th-wish me luck!!

Am I mad? Possibly, but what this charity provides families and communities, is worth all the madness.

Having experienced this first hand, and watched my wonderfully witty dad be affected by this cruel disease; it's vital that funds continue to be raised so that other families are provided with specialist equipment and emotional support, that were readily available to us.

Without the MND Association's support, my dad wouldn't have been able to speed off in his electric wheelchair, driving my mum mad with his erratic steering and boy racer driving!

Being provided with independence, when your body is unable to support you, offered my dad the 'normality' that kept him going.

If you've got this far, thank you for reading. Any money you can spare will go towards providing vital research and allowing other families, like mine, to have a chance of normality when dealt this unfortunate set of cards.

Thank you

Jenn
