On July 14th, Jenna is having a drastic hair cut and will be donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust which is a charity that provides wigs for children who have sadly lost their hair due to cancer. 

In addition she would like to raise a few pennies for a charity very close to our hearts - Families of Ocean Ward.  In 2015 Jenna was diagnosed with congenital heart defects.  The diagnosis came out of the blue.  We were soon referred to the fabulous team at Southampton General Hospital  and in February 2016 Jenna underwent major open heart surgery.  The world of congenital heart disease is one you never want to enter, but the care we have had on Ocean Ward, and the ongoing support we still receive is humbling to say the least.  Ocean Ward is an incredible place, staffed by the most amazing people.  They turned one of the most traumatic experiences into a very positive one, and Jenna will be the first to tell you she 'has a great time' on Ocean Ward.  This is in no small part thanks to the charity who do everything they can to ensure a home from home for both the children and their families who are treated here from all over the south and south west of England.

The charity itself (1145013) was formed by volunteer parents of children with cardiac disease who rely on the services provided by Ocean Ward and it’s team of specialist and dedicated staff. They have strong links with the ward with a representative from Ocean Ward involved in strategic planning and decision making . This enables them to stay abreast of the day to day needs of families being cared for on Ocean Ward. They provide services and days out to families of children with heart conditions treated on Ocean Ward, Southampton GH.

We were and continue to be so touched by the stories of these brave little heart warriors and their families and we would love to do our bit to help make anyone's stay there just a little bit more bearable.
