  • Event: A 'BIG' Birthday

Saint Catherine's Hospice (Scarborough)

We help adults with life limiting illnesses to improve their quality of life.

Charity Registration No. 284701

This all started with my BIG birthday last year ! I decided to accompany my cousin Emma Briggs and participate with  St Catherines Hospice in the challenge to trek along the Canadian Rockies in June 2020. A bucket list challenge for me..

I am hoping to raise the Minimum £2500.00 that is required of me to endure this - obviously the more sponsorship the better.. so therefore I am asking friends, family and any others to please help donate / sponsor me to allow me to achieve this goal and I'm hoping to complete a few hair raising challenges in order to raise the money. Please help where you can...

Sadly, my own dad - (my beloved Bid) recently made use of the excellent facilities that were offered by this wonderful Hospice.  Heartbreakingly he died after a short illness.. But the amount of help and care we all received was amazing. We can never thank them enough. One never knows when you will need to use these facilities.

I sadly know of too many that have spent their last few days, weeks and months in the caring arms of this Hospice, including my own cousin Pauline Briggs - Emma's Mum.

I have initially 'done' the Worlds Fasted Zip Line - with speeds over 100mph over Penryhn Quarry, Snowdonia on my BIG birthday last March. This was an amazing experience and I thoroughly enjoyed. What a way to spend your 50th ☺

My next is another bucket list challenge to participate in a Wing Walk in May 2020. This entails standing on the wing of an authentic Boeing Stearman Biplane travelling at speeds up to 135mph ..!!   (I Shall be strapped on of course !)  This has been cancelled twice, so third time lucky I say.. !!  My dad really wanted to see me do this, so I'm hoping that he can see me from up above on the day..

For my birthday present I was very kindly given a Microlight Experience, (Yes..another bucket list challenge !! ),  this too shall be booked in ASAP, again hoping to raise the much needed money to reach my target.

I have previously contributed to raise a significant amount of money for the Hospice with volunteering at the Vintage Working Day, Staxtonbury and the Pistonslap events.

Thank you for reading my plea / pledge, and if you would kindly help me with this worthy cause, I'd be so very grateful. I would like to thank everybody that has very kindly and generously donated.
