Story

The Mental Health Users and Carers Group of Malawi are a group pf people who have had illnesses themxselves and are now advocating on behalf of people with mental disorders. These conditions can be highly stigmatised in may countries though out the world and Malawi is no different. Some people may recover form illness to find that they have lost their job, that their land has been taken away or that their family no longer support them.

Having raised money last year, MeHUCA have been able to start several local support groups, rent some field so that they can grow crops and also we have started to make a film to try to raise awareness and fight stigma around these illneses.

The Porters Race is an uphill endurance race, about 25 KM long and 1.5KM ascent. Mainly completed by Malawians, there is now a small number of expats that also participate. Last year I was beaten by women running in dresses and children in bare feet... To make this humiliation worth my while it would be great if you could donate again. Any amount that you want to give is very welcome.
