Story
There are many Emmaus communities around the country making a massive practical difference to reduce homelessness. Emmaus allows people to better their situation by providing meaningful work and stable homes.
In Mossley, where I live, we are lucky enough to be home to the Emmaus second hand superstore. This is so much more than just a shop. This is a vital community asset.
I have listened to lots of stories from people who are destitute or have been previously. I've come to realise that we are all vulnerable to life pressures. Homelessness can happen to anyone.
Seeing first-hand the hard work and commitment of those who live and work at Emmaus, people who have experienced the harsh realities of life on the streets, is truly is inspiring.
I’ve worked for large charities and find lots of money is spent on beaurocratic process. This is not the case with Emmaus. Money goes where it makes a difference to those who need it. Emmaus shows that if you value and support someone’s skills and talents, they can give back in a worthwhile manner.
I am passionate about
Emmaus and feel honoured to be one of five people running for this charity. Any amount you are able to give, great or small really will make a difference.
I appreciate every penny. See you at the finish line.
