Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My name is Jenn Hall and I am the Helpline Manager for Alzheimer Scotland's 24hr Freephone Dementia Helpline. Our Helpline is an incredible service that is there to provide information, emotional support and signposting to people living with dementia and their carers. We depend 100% on fund raised income.
There are 95,000 people living with dementia in Scotland who, during this crisis have experienced severe disruption to their daily routines and support. The stress and distress that people are experiencing as a result of lock down is extreme and we are hearing this first hand via our Dementia Helpline.
My partner Joolz Wallace and I really want to do something to help get the message out there to anyone affected by dementia that Alzheimer Scotland is still here for you.
Alzheimer Scotland is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and to mark this we are challenging ourselves to a 40 themed challenge. Throughout May we have set ourselves a weekly challenge centred around '40'.
WEEK 1: Cycle 40K
WEEK 2: Run 40K
WEEK 3: Cycle 40K
WEEK 4: Run 40K
The end of each week will be punctuated by a killer 40 reps challenge designed by our pal from Ultimate Pole Fitness, Maddie Dyer.
6 weeks into lock down and every day we are getting a greater sense of what this means for people living with dementia and their families. I desperately want to do something that will raise awareness about this and if you are able to spare some pennies to keep us motivated and committed to this challenge then please donate. We will of course be making the most of our 1 hour a day exercise time for the outdoor running and cycling to maintain our social distancing responsibility.
Lots of Love, Jenn & Joolz xxx
