London to Brighton 2022 · 11 September 2022 ·
On the 11th September myself and my team of 10 friends will be pedalling our hearts out on the 55 mile London to Brighton cycle. We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for the wonderful Royal Marsden Charity, so they can continue their great work in Cancer care, treatment and support.
In April 2021 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at The Royal Marsden, after being referred having found a lump under my armpit (the lymph node glands). Through 16 months of continuous treatment such as scans, diagnosis, 2 types of chemotherapy, an operation, radiotherapy and my current (preventative) antibody treatment, I've experienced first-hand what great work they do and how important funding is.
Although its been a tough old road at times I consider myself pretty lucky - my cancer was caught early, I tolerated the treatment better than most, and have been able to deal with it all mostly in the way I wanted (driving myself to appointments and chemo, continuing working throughout and defying oncologists who said I wouldn't be able to play badminton during treatment).
Being in the hospital environment, sadly it's all too apparent that others aren't so lucky.
So I wanted to challenge myself a little, and do my bit to say thank you to the charity of the hospital who's been looking after me so well and fixing me up, in the hope they can continue to do the same for more and more patients.
Please do give whatever little you can spare to drive me and the team on our way.
Thanks for reading and donating. Jenny xxx
