Caring for life-limited children and giving their mums and dads a well earned break is at the heart of what Julia’s House do. They offer regular respite for families under extraordinary pressure. This is done at two local hospices; in Dorset and Wiltshire, through work in the local community and visiting families in their own homes. They offer play sessions, regular respite care and end of life care and bereavement support. 

I recently visited the Dorset hospice and was amazed by the lengths the hospice go to make the children feel like they are ‘home from home’ whilst providing the specialist care and equipment needed. The place if full of fun and happiness and the staff are amazing. It was hard not to feel overwhelmed with emotion at both the joyful play areas as well as the quiet area for end of life when the worst happen. 

This is a challenge which will push me physically but also mentally.. being away from my children for two weeks in Nepal. But I want to do this to raise as much money as I can for Julia’s house... they rely on fundraising for 94% of their services and they couldn’t do it without people supporting them.
