Three years ago, with 3 days notice, I stepped into my sister Emily's shoes to complete the Yorkshire Marathon. Cancer had chosen the most inappropriate time to remind her of its permanent residence, and a marathon at that time was too big an ask. So, unable to tackle the cancer directly, I opted to tackle the Yorkshire Marathon for her instead to honour the sponsorship she had raised.
This year (with a little more notice) I plan to revisit the Yorkshire Marathon and raise some money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal in the process, as again I find myself surrounded by cancer affecting not only my sister Emily's life, but family, friends and colleagues. Supporting the Jane Tomlinson Appeal allows them to continue their work to help to improve the lives of people living with cancer.
If pounding the streets and inflicting some significant discomfort on myself can improve the lives of those living with cancer, including my sister, then it seems the least I can do!
