Run the River 2021 · 7 September 2021 to 12 September 2021 ·

Our mission to end educational inequality drives everything we do. We seek, develop and support teachers and leaders who are determined to make a difference where it's needed most. We're fighting to make our education system work for every child.

Story

I work for Teach First as the Programme Welfare and Access Manager. I focus on ensuring our trainee teachers - who are more diverse than the profession overall - can make their greatest impact across their teaching career.

Education in the UK needs to change. It needs to be compassionate. Fairer. More equal. There are lots of ways to try to achieve this. Doing nothing isn’t one of them!

My personal interest in Run the River this year is getting out of my house and seeing my community. I live in Tower Hamlets. We work with a lot of schools here - the borough faces a lot of hardship. But it’s a wonderful place to live. And it has a lot of beautiful stories of diversity, struggle and survival.

I want every kid in Tower Hamlets to have the kinds of opportunities that I had. And to have the ability to choose between appealing and supportive options for their education and future. So please do put a couple quid towards our walk.
