Story
In 2021, I joined the inaugural advisory board of the Holcomb Family YMCA, and in 2022, I became chair of the Board Development Committee. Before joining the board, I considered the Y a provider of group exercise classes, summer camps, and youth sports. And it is definitely all of that. But for those that know me, you know those are not things that normally make me weak at the knees.
I am most excited about the philanthropic service aspect of this new YMCA, which serves a geographic area often overlooked. Holcomb Y is bringing many critical support programs to our neighbors in the community, including teen mental health groups, scholarship programs for underserved kiddos, and community outreach programs offering school supplies, food pantries, and ESL classes. I am humbled to give some of my time to help ensure that those living in difficult circumstances benefit from the life-changing programs, resources, and institutional support the Y can provide. And the impact they are already having is pretty amazing!
That's my share... now here's my ask:
Please consider making a donation to our 2023 annual campaign. ALL dollars raised through the JustGiving link stay exclusively in the community served by the Holcomb Family Y. Every single dollar raised in this campaign is spent solely on service and support programs.
Instead of grabbing a coffee a few times this week, you can sponsor 10 school supply-filled backpacks for those in need.
Instead of heading to the cinema for some tickets and popcorn, you can provide a sports season scholarship to a family in need.
Instead of going out to lunch a few times in the coming weeks, you can underwrite a teen leadership or mental health support group.
And if giving doesn't feel quite right at this moment, you can still help by spreading the word about the amazing things happening at this (and every other) YMCA. Let me know if you're interested in giving time to a local Y, and we can find the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.
No amount of time or treasure is too small. If we want to see change, we must be the change!
