Walk in Her Name
This March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and I’m honoring my mum Elaine’s memory by taking part in Ovarian Cancer Action’s Walk in Her Name challenge, walking 100km to raise awareness and funds for this vital cause.
My incredible mum, Elaine passed away last year on October 9th 2024, after a six-year battle with ovarian cancer. Sadly she never got the chance to meet her first grandchild, Alfie, missing his birth by 20 days. In the whirlwind of new motherhood, I’ve had little time to grieve or truly process my loss. Grief is different for everyone, and I’m learning that making space for it is just as important as everything else life brings.
I’ll be joined on the walk by the incredible women in my NCT group (along with our wonderful babies), who have been my lifeline through pregnancy, birth, and the ups and downs of motherhood. Their support is a constant reminder of how essential it is to lean on others, especially in difficult times.
Ovarian cancer is often diagnosed too late, making research crucial for early detection and better treatment. Every step we take is not just for my mum but for all the women still fighting, for those we’ve lost, and for those who may face this battle in the future.
If you can, please consider donating or sharing our journey. Your support means the world.
