Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
It does not matter who you are, what you do, how much money you have, walking into a room with a consultant surrounded by nurses along with other medical professionals and being told you have cancer is never going to be easy to take as Jennifer knows first hand. At this moment it was her husband who took the news worse. So for them it is unimaginable how heart breaking it would be, to be in that room in that exact situation and hear that your child is 1 of the 3600 every year to be diagnosed with cancer.1 in every 600 children in the U.K. will be diagnosed with cancer at some point this year. This figure is unlikely to change in the coming years but what we can change is what happens after this point. With more funding leading charities can research and together we can change these children's tomorrow's and support their families while they unwillingly take part on the horrendous emotional roller coaster that follows.
So on the 16th of October Helen and Jennifer will be climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money to fund further research to stop cancer destroying young lives. They will climb 5900 meters on the Lemosho Route over 7 days, pushing themselves to their limits. On day 5 they will reach the summit after climbing for 6 hours in the dark before starting the 7 hour descent on day 6. Jennifer will be away from her two young boys for 10 days to try and protect them and others from going through what some have already faced.
Children with cancer UK have an urgent brain tumour appeal going at the moment and this is one of the reasons why Helen strongly wanted to support this charity. In memory of Shaun Mcbride, the son of close friends Frank and Wendy who they sadly lost to this terrible disease.
So please support us, no matter how big or small in our quest to help the tomorrow's of all the children in the uk who will hear the terrible news - you have cancer.
