Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. After pulling out of the London Marathon this year, I promised myself that I'd run another marathon to ensure that those who had already sponsored me got value for money. The money I raised for the London Marathon has already gone to the cardiomyopathy association and so this time I am raising extra money for a cause which is very personal to me and my family. Please do not sponsor me again, if you already have - if you haven't and want to, all donations gratefully received.

I am running the Amsterdam Marathon on the 19th October 2008 for what used to be the Eating Disorders Association and is now BEAT. I hope that whatever money raised helps other families and sufferers.

I think that I may go into semi-retirement after this, training and running marathons hurts and plays havoc with your social life - it also relies on very generous friends, family and work colleagues (who have helped me raise over 6000 already for various causes).

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: beat gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I really am grateful for any donation at all.
