In September 2012 my Dad John had a heart attack, but it wasn’t a straight forward “patch him up and send him home” situation. The local hospital couldn’t carry out the lifesaving operation he needed and the decision was made to send him to Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital.

He spent over 7 hours in the operating theatre, where the Surgeon preformed a coronary artery bypass graft and a septal defect repair. Had other complications after surgery kidney failure and pneumonia, but with the exceptional care from the doctors and nurses to pulled through.

Traveling the 210 mile round trip daily for 4 weeks became a routine, but knowing that he was in safe hands made it that little bit easier.

After a further 3 weeks at our local hospital he was discharged, and is now on the road to recovery.

Myself and my family would like to extend our thanks to the team involved especially the doctors and nurses and surgeons in the POCCU and ITU units.
