Jenny Finch is raising money for Blood Cancer UK
Story
Since running 2 marathons in 2014 - and vowing never to run another one - I have learnt a lot more about Bloodwise and the life-saving research they fund.
I have learnt that there are 137 types of blood cancer and that every 14 minutes in the UK someone is newly diagnosed with one of them. I have seen the dedicated scientists at work in the labs and met inspiring people who take on gruelling physical challenges or work tirelessly to raise the money necessary to fund this research. And I've met people who would not be here today without it.
The charity (known as the Leukaemia Research fund) was founded in 1960 by the Eastwood family whose little daughter Susan died from the disease in just a few short months. In those days around 90% of children diagnosed were not expected to survive. Today, thanks to research funded by the charity, over 90% will survive!
So I've signed up for Brighton again! I've been training hard through the winter which has often meant running in the early morning in the dark, and cold, and rain! Those who know me well will know how much I love my nice warm bed in the mornings!
