Story

I’m not a runner, never have been, never will be. But boredom during a lockdown will make you do silly things, like signing up for your first ever marathon.

To add to the pressure and make it a bit more stressful, I’ve decided it would be a good opportunity to raise some funds for a small, local charity that provides rehabilitative care to people who have had a stroke, which my Dad attends every week.

iCARE is a place for stroke survivors to socialise, find mutual support and friendship, access speech therapy and physiotherapy and a range of varied activities to improve communication skills and for mental stimulation.

Like many charities, iCARE relies heavily on donations to continue to provide invaluable rehabilitative services.  All money from this fundraising effort will be going direct to iCARE for them to spend on what is needed. The money fundraiser might go towards the following:

£50 would buy 100 cans of soup which are served as part of nutritious winter-time lunches for clients.
£100 would serve all clients their weekly lunch.
£500 would cover a month’s fees from an external speech therapist
£1,250 would cover a month’s fees from JLINKS, specialist physiotherapists.
