Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of my Mum.
Mum was a healthy 78 year old when in August 2010 she developed difficulty in speech, followed by problems with chewing & swallowing & head drooping forwards. 6 months later after extensive investigations, her diagnosis was given - a rare form of MND - Bulbar Palsy. Mum lost her speech, I could no longer hear her voice, no longer hear her tell the stories of past memories that she loved to recall; she was given a light writer, but it was not the same. She bore this illness bravely with no complaint but on 27th November 2011 she died peacefully in her sleep. Throughout this time we were fully supported by Doctors and MND and were provided with a dedicated MND nurse. The reason for this walk is I wish to raise money for research & more dedicated nursing support in the home.
On September 8th I am starting my epic 84 miles over 4 days walking Hadrian's Wall - with Mum coming with me in spirit!
So please dig deep and donate now to this worthwhile charity, so maybe one day treatment will be available to slow down or even cure this awful illness.
Thank you.
