In July I’ll be kayaking 60 miles along the Caledonian Canal in Scotland to raise awareness and funds for the amazing charity Back Up Trust for whom I’m also a mentor.
Back Up support people affected by spinal cord injury to transform their lives.
As many of you will know I sustained a spinal cord injury that has left me partially paralysed down the left side. After a couple of years of feeling sorry for myself, I got the support of BackUp to get my life back on track.
Walking and standing is difficult, running impossible. So kayaking is one of the few sports I can do with my injury.
Every four hours, someone’s life will change forever as a result of a spinal cord injury. Any damage to the spinal cord has major consequences for someone’s health and wellbeing, and is likely to have a lasting impact on most aspects of their life. But with the right support, they can lead a fulfilled life.
The trip is being done on the cheap (camping with our own kit, getting ourselves to Scotland, paying for our food etc.) so that as much money as possible raised from this challenge can go towards funding the great work that Back Up Trust does.
I’d love it if you could sponsor me so that I can reach my target of £1250 so that together we can support this amazing charity and the work they do.
It’s really easy to donate through my Just Giving page.

Thank you!
