Story

As many of you already know, I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon on 26th May. This will by far be the most challenging event I have ever taken part in. Training is going to plan, but it’s extremely tough! Couldn’t do it without my girl Lisa Murtagh. 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

With everything going on in the world right now, I have decided to run for charity. I am raising money for The British Red Cross to help families in crisis around the world. Any donations will help people that have had their lives torn apart by conflict, like in Ukraine and Gaza.

I have joined #TeamRedCross to ensure that they can help anyone, anywhere in the UK and around the world, get the support they need if crisis strikes.Whether they are supporting families arriving from Ukraine, giving a lifeline to those struggling with the cost of living in the UK or rescuing survivors from the rubble after earthquakes in Morocco, the British Red Cross strive to get people the help they need at times of crisis. The pressing concerns in Gaza right now are:

  • 1.7 million people have no home. They're living in makeshift shelters, cars or even out in the open. It’s freezing, so hypothermia is a real threat.
  • Most families barely eat one meal a day. Severe food insecurity is affecting 80% of the population – a number that’s only going to rise.
  • Disease outbreak is a very real risk. Largely driven by poor sanitation and an acute lack of clean drinking water.
  • Hospitals can’t run. There's no fuel. Hundreds of thousands of people no longer have access to healthcare.
  • Over 100 people taken from Israel are still being held captive. Very little is known about the conditions they’re in. Families are left tormented, imagining the worst.

Every pound donated will make a huge difference to help those affected by crisis: > £19.25 could help provide a refugee or asylum seeker an hour of one-to-one support in tracking their lost relatives, helping them to reconnect after being separated> £75 could keep 150 survivors of a fire at a block of flats warm, while we help them find emergency accommodation> £100 could provide 12,000 chlorine tablets, ensuring people affected by the conflict in Ukraine have access to safe, clean water.

What these people are going through is just unimaginable. Any donation you can give would be much appreciated! ❤️
