This September, I will be participating in a charity cycle from London to Monaco with Winch Design and I will be cycling the 454km, Chapter 3, from Dijon to Gap! Chapter 3 of the ride begins on the 22nd September and consists of a 3 day cycle with a total elevation gain of 5222m. 

Many of you probably know that I have never undertaken a challenge like this or spent much time on a bike before! So... this represents a significant challenge for me! One that I am excited to do for a great cause!

Over-fishing represents a major food security issue and has devastating consequences for the fragile biodiversity of our planet. Around 90% of global fish stocks are fully or over-exploited and around 90% of large fish are gone. The consequences are far-reaching, not only for the future of food for a growing global population, but because healthy oceans absorb half the CO2 we produce.

BLUE Marine Foundation combat over-fishing and the destruction of biodiversity by delivering practical conservation solutions, including the creation of large-scale marine reserves.

BLUE’s aim is to put 10% of the world’s oceans under protection by 2020 and 30% by 2030. We also work to establish sustainable fisheries so fish stocks can begin to recover.

Donations made will support two projects BLUE is working on:

• Protecting the beautiful Aeolian Islands to the north of Sicily from overfishing and irresponsible tourism by creating a marine reserve around it.
• Support creating a marine reserve around the whole (currently 50%)of the Ascension Island in the Atlantic Ocean to protect sharks, turtles and sea birds and stimulate science and eco - tourism.
