Sons of Royalty 2019

Sons of Royalty Great Invasion 2019 · 9 September 2019
It's that time of year again when we saddle up with the Sons of Royalty for an epic trip across America to raise money for Childline Rocks. This year's trip takes us from San Diego to Lake Isabella, then to Lake Isabella and Yosemite before skirting Lake Tahoe on our way to Monterey, then down to Santa Barbara before ending our ride in Santa Monica. (for full details see our wordpress site at www.jennyandwayne.wordpress.com).
As most of you know, Wayne (my husband) suffered a total brachial plexus injury in a motorbike accident in June 2007. This accident left him with no use or feeling in his left arm. In 2012, he finally managed to get back on a bike (thanks to the National Association of Bikers with a Disability), and has since started fulfilling his dream of riding across the States (Route 66, we will finish riding you one day!). Participating in an organised ride such as this has the combined benefits of raising money for a fantastic cause, while giving Wayne the support and backup needed in-case of any unforeseen problems!
To add to the fun, about 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and had to sell my motorbike as the vibrations when riding made the pain so much worse. I've since got back on the bike and managed to complete a ride in 2015 (just!), and will be doing the same again this year!
For those of you wanting to know a bit more about the organisation I'm raising money through, here's the information:
WHAT I’M DOING:
Raising funds for Childline - the UK’s free and confidential, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. At the moment, Childline are able to help 3 out of 4 children. Let’s make it 4 out of 4!
HOW I’M DOING IT:
I’m raising funds through the charity Childline Rocks, which was established to raise money through 'live music and other shenanigans'. I’m doing an ‘Other Shenanigan’: a 1600 mile charity road trip across the hot deserts of California, Passing through the Mojave desert where they leave airplanes to die (!) with an eclectic gang of riders doing the same. Riding from San Diego across the barren lands of Joshua Tree, along the hills of the Sequoia National Forest, with stunning views but also sheer drops! The trip will end with a fundraising gig from classic British rock band, Thunder!
I want to raise as much as I can to support desperate children when they need it most. Every little bit will make an enormous difference.
Thank you in advance for your kind donation!
