Jenny Tyrrell was a paediatrician with a deep knowledge of children, a gift for teaching and a sparkling sense of humour. She combined these in every area of her work, and memorably in her contributions to the Diploma of Palestinian Child Health over the past six years. She designed the module about the Emotional and Behavioural Health of children, which- her colleagues often heard- had more impact than any other in broadening the students’ ideas. 

Had Jenny had the long and happy retirement she deserved she wanted to spend more time teaching and one of the places she was really keen to go back to was to Palestine.  It therefore seemed appropriate that donations are made in her memory to MAP - Medical Aid for Palestinians. They have supported the Diploma and many other projects designed to help people facing difficulties in the occupied territories, Gaza and Lebanon.  Her colleagues in Palestine have worked with them to train and support nurses visiting families in the refugee camps, encourage positive behavioural management in kindergartens and teach resuscitation skills- and they do much else besides.
