When I started fundraising for 'Ovarian Cancer Action' my Mum was alive and hoping to come and watch me run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October 2017. Little did we know that in August 2017 things would change. I will now be running the 2018 London Marathon with my Mum (and Dad) on my mind 100% of the time. Here's hoping that the money raised will prevent others from going through the same. Please read below and the subsequent updates for our full story.

May 2017 - You may or may not know that my amazing Mum has been battling ovarian cancer since her 'stage 4' diagnosis in 2014. She has endured various surgical procedures, 3 gruelling cycles of chemotherapy, and no end of hideous side effects. BUT she never moans or complains, she has the most amazing positive attitude and is determined to use what little energy she has to continue creating lasting memories. 

In the last week alone Mum has had 3 scheduled hospital visits and has been unexpectedly admitted twice. She has had 5 arterial stents inserted and has been suffering with kidney pain, nausea and vomiting...but yet she is STILL smiling! 

I am absolutely in awe of the determination she has shown and think she is pretty damn special. I find it very hard not being on hand to help out more so thought this would be a good way of showing that she is constantly in my thoughts. I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October and (if I am lucky enough to get a place) I would like to do the London Marathon in 2018 too. 

This will be a huge challenge for me but I am hoping to prove to myself that I have inherited some of Mum's amazing stamina!! And when it hurts and I feel like giving up I will be able to think of her...(it will be nothing compared to what Mum is going through)...and it will be her inspiration that gets me over the finish line (hopefully!!).

With Mum in mind, please help me to support Ovarian Cancer Action - a very worthy cause. I know Mum feels like she has been very well looked after in the various hospitals she has frequented and is very grateful for the ongoing research and development in the ovarian cancer field - thank goodness they keep finding new drugs that are having a positive impact.
