Story

Hi All!

I'm doing a sprint triathlon (500m swim, 23km cycle and 5k run) on 27th July to raise money for the motor neurone disease association. My uncle Barry died last year following a six year battle with Shy Drager syndrome, a form of motor neurone disease (MND) which affects the autonomic nervous system. He was very fortunate in receiving an early diagnosis (as a doctor himself) and recieved all of his care in his own home. Despite these benefits, his disease; which left his body defunct and his mind fully functioning, was devastating for him and all those who loved him. I was at his house the day that he died and promised myself at the time that I would raise money for a MND charity in the hope that more can be done to improve awareness, treatment availability (although this is symptomatic only) and maybe contribute to better understanding of potential causes (I realise I'm being a bit idealist in these hopes, but every little helps!)

Anyway...

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
