Jenson & Ruben's Forever Grateful Fund · 21 January 2019

In the UK, 1 in 10 babies need specialist care at birth. SSNAP supports sick & premature babies and their families in the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Imagine your newborn baby needing specialist care at birth. Instead of those very special days getting to know your baby as a family, you’re catapulted into an unfamiliar world of incubators, wires, medical tests and interventions. While your baby has specialist treatment, we provide emotional and practical support to help you through the trauma & upheaval. We’re there to help families cope, and provide state-of-the-art medical equipment and nursing expertise that could save babies lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.

On the 21st of January 2019 the Powell family celebrated leaving the John Radcliffe for the first time together. It marked 158 days since landing in a Cornish coast guard helicopter,  the day before Jenson and Ruben were born at 22+6 weeks weighing only 535g and 590g.

We have been surrounded by the most incredibly knowledgeable, giving and kind nurses, doctors, surgeons, consultants, ward clerks, cleaning team, SSNAP volunteers, parents (everyone at the JR) and been the receiver of the most thoughtful and loving words and support from family, old friends and new friends. More than we could ever have imagined. We will never forget this and will be forever grateful.

We wanted to find a way to thank everyone who has taken care of us at the JR - you are our heroes!

Our target is to fund ongoing support for the team that cared for us to to cover the cost of a well deserved pamper for the neonatal care team from massage therapists, to counseling support to pamper hampers we will be working with the charity to understand how we can give back to these wonderful people.

We welcome all donations towards the fund and will be coordinating a number of fundraising events..

All our love

Jenson & Ruben and their forever grateful parents
