My name is Jeremy Helm,  I am going  to run my 1st Marathon to fundraise for Different Strokes.

So why am I fundraising for this Charity in particular?

I have a personal Interest in trying to raise money and maybe more importantly awareness of   head injury issues due to a having a Haemorrhagic Stroke  at the age of 4 years old , thus changing  the lives both  myself and my family.

I spent many months after I came out of hospital having tough and gruelling physio, hydro and speech therapy.

In time I started walking and my speech returned, however I now live with the physical and mental disabilities that are commonly associated with Stroke Survivors such as

Right Sided Hemiplegia

Concentration/Memory loss

Now 31 years old, having lived through childhood into adulthood with physical and at times mental issues, I believe this charity to be a great help and support to other young stroke survivors who will be in a similar position to myself.

A great passion in my life has been running and I represented Yorkshire as a disabled athlete as well as being a long term member of Holmfirth Harriers Athletics Club hence my ambition to run the marathon and support my chosen charity.

This is why I am passionate to raise money for this worthwhile cause.
