Story
On November 10th 2019 I will be doing a Marathon Swim which is completely stupid because I HATE getting water in my ears, even when showering! I am doing it solo, so need you guys to dig deep and do this sponsor thing to keep me going.
Here's what your money and my mouthfuls of chlorinated wee, will be doing:
HIV rarely happens in isolation, particularly with children and young people. Associated challenges in addition to the virus can be economical, educational or psycho-social. The affects of living with HIV can have a devastating effect on a young person's life. Support, education and peer to peer learning is the solution to this, and part of the solution to ending HIV and AIDS globally.
I personally believe that no one should live with stigma and with shame, and that's where CHIVA come in. CHIVA works to ensure that every child with HIV in the UK has optimum health care and social support to enable them to live well and manage their HIV without stigma and shame.
They run camps and residentials that provide education, emotional support and the opportunity for essential fun and growth. They highlight best practice and provide young people with a platform to be heard, respected and act as a force for change.
Please give what you can, be it the price of a Guinness, a 'Paul Mckenna', a 'Pony' or even a 'Bullseye'. Your support will make the a big difference to me as I train, but mainly to young people living with HIV.
