Sissinghurst Bun Penny Club is a registered charity (1031529) which supports single people over the age of 65 living in the Parish of Sissinghurst by taking them out for a Summer afternoon tea and providing a Christmas lunch. It was formed in 1959 and, to raise funds, Victorian "Bun Pennies" were originally collected. These were coins showing the Queen with her hair done up in a bun. As these became rare, new ways to raise money had to be found. including quizzes, sponsored challenges, coffee mornings and donations. Your support of this deserving Charity is much appreciated. For further information, the charity can be contacted at bunpennyclub@mail.com

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Sissinghurst Cyclists , Jeremy, Andy and Mike, will be cycling 100km to raise funds for the Sissinghurst Bun Penny Club.

They will cycle from Sissinghurst, through the Weald, along the coast of Kent and East Sussex between Dymchurch and Rye and then returning to Sissinghurst.

The Sissinghurst Bun Penny Club supports people in the Parish of Sissinghurst over the age of 65 who are single, widowed or, for some other reason, live alone.  This registered charity takes out its members each year for a Christmas lunch as well as an afternoon cream tea in the summer.

To raise money for this, the Bun Penny Club, which was founded in 1959, originally collected early Victorian “Bun Pennies” (the ones with the Queen’s hair done up in a bun) but as these pennies became rarer other means of raising funds had to be found.
