Story

Dear All,

Thank you very much for sponsoring and supporting my attempt to climb Mt Blanc.  I am pleased  to say that Alec Crippa, our guide, Bertrand Martinet and I reached the top on Thursday at 14.30. To catch a very tight weather window, we started off at 04.30 from Martigny arriving at the Aiguille du Midi  above at 06.50, trekked up through the Col du Midi, up and around Mt Blanc du Tacul, down across the Col du Maudit, then up and around Mont Maudit before making the final push up Mt Blanc itself. Regrettably my sister Karina succumbed to altitude sickness (manifested in part as uncontollable giggling) some 350 m from the summit at Rochers Rouges she was airlifted to Chamonix Hospital and diagnosed to be suffering from an High Altitude Cerebral Oedema.  Her partner Ewan and our other guide, Julien, made their way down on foot to be with her. Thankfully Karina’s recovery was speedy and complete, and she is absolutely fine and was able to contribute fully to the post-ascent celebrations the day after.

I am delighted to tell you that your generosity means that the total raised for MS action is impressivly in excess of GBP 9,000. Thank you again for your kindness and support and please be assured that your money will be well used.

Warmest wishes

Jeremy
