Story

What the winner will receive:

The winner will receive a free flight for yourself, a family member or a friend to Earls Colne airfield in Essex in a small light single-engine aeroplane. Being based near Romford I will need you to be able to travel to Romford/the surrounding area to get to my local airfield. If this is not possible for you or the person your donations are still happily accepted and I can choose another person instead. To clarify this is part of my hour building and the flight will be FULLY FUNDED BY ME I will not be using any money from donations or yourself to fund this flight and you will be acting as a passenger for the full duration of the flight. I will be acting in accordance with Article 12 of the Air Navigation Order (ANO) 2016 for charity flights. (CAP1330)

Donations:

Any donation amount is welcome but a £5 donation will give 1 entry so if you donate more this will equate to more entries e.g £10 = 2 entries / £30 = 6 entries

your DONATION CONFIRMATION, your FULL NAME and a CONTACT NUMBER to the email:

About EHAAT:

Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust is a charity and not part of the NHS. Therefore, they receive very limited funding from the government relying heavily on money from people like me and you. Being based at Earls Colne and North Weald Airfields (both in Essex) they provide a free life-saving Helicopter Emergency service (HEMS) for critically ill and injured people of Essex and Hertfordshire. Their pre-hospital care and critical care paramedics provide advanced medical care onsite that is normally only found in the Emergency Department. Once stabilised, patients are rushed to the most appropriate hospital for their needs. This early intervention makes a dramatic difference to each patient’s survival. The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance began operations in 1998 and since has attended 28,363 missions. Just in November 2021, the service attended 170 missions which involved anything from medical emergencies and road traffic collisions to accidental injuries.

Why EHAAT:

Currently, I’m a year 2 aviation student at university learning to become a pilot. Being part of the course has allowed me to follow my dreams and become a Private Pilot. During my cross-country flight (which is a requirement to obtain the license) one of my airfields along my route was Earls Colne, which of course is also the base of the air ambulance. When I arrived, the crew had been alerted to a mission and seeing how quick and responsive the team worked was incredible to see. I once again spotted the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance doctors and paramedics in Lakeside shopping centre back in October offering free training to help save lives. I was just so amazed to see how hard the team was working and their true passion to save lives. With my mum working in the healthcare sector and my love for aviation and its community, it is therefore only right to help be a part of this mission to help save more lives and fundraise for the EHAA.

My mission:

The main mission of this fundraiser is to help raise as much as possible for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust, however, I would also like to share my love for aviation and offer a once in a lifetime opportunity for a lucky person. I’ll be choosing one person who donated and take them on a flight to Earl’s Colne airfield where one of the Air ambulance bases resides.

About me:

Being raised by my mother in the most deprived area of London my dream of becoming a pilot of any sort was very unrealistic. In 2021 at the age of 19, I managed to obtain my Private Pilots license with the help of my university course, student loans and savings from work which would have never been possible otherwise. I’m so grateful for this privilege, aviation is so special to me and I would love to share this with as many people as possible. Achieving a Private Pilots License was the impossible for me and I would love to hopefully become an airline pilot one day. To do this I need to build hours and along the way why not help people who need it.

Requirements for the flight:

In the interest of safety, it’s required that you weigh 100kg or less, you’re 6ft 2 or less have no ongoing heart conditions or medical conditions that could be considered unsafe for yourself or pregnant.

What will happen if you win:

I’ll be writing all names down and randomly choosing a winner who contacted me through the email address: ehaatcharityflight@gmail.com and contacting them via email and the chosen contact number. I will be announcing the winner in mid Summer
