Story
First of all, thank you all for taking the time to read ANOTHER fundraising page.
I will be running the Hackney Half Marathon (20k!) in May for the charity Be Enriched. Be Enriched was founded in 2013 and was originally set up to help youth offenders integrate into society by providing employment skills and experience. It has since evolved into an award winning charity that seeks to create social sanctuaries for the community, using food as a tool. However, with continued government cuts to charity funding and an increase in operational costs, the charity is struggling to maintain itself.
At the heart of the organisation are the community canteens that run three times a week across South London. Using surplus food that has been donated by local greengrocers and supermarkets, the canteens provide homemade, nutritious meals (for free) to all those in need.
Many of the beneficiaries are individuals that are elderly, recovering from or in the midst of substance abuse, and those suffering from social isolation. They rely on these services not only to feed themselves but also for the security of knowing they can go to a safe, non-judgemental environment where they can be themselves and interact with like-minded individuals.
Please help Be Enriched to keep our services going!
