Great North Run 2023 · 10 September 2023 ·
Finally after all the years of saying I want to do the great north run I am!
The reason being so close to my heart, my amazing mum Trisha was diagnosed with MS shortly after I was born and within her first year of marriage. Quite a few years later she was blessed with another 2 children all whilst dealing with her condition without making a fuss to anyone around her.
MS has an impact on my mums everyday life which many people may not realise, even though she’s managed through the years it’s been done with silent courage. The worry and concern my mum has about her condition I’ve seen in every angle and I can say she’s a silent fighter. Over the last few years things have started to deteriorate and that concern is growing which I can see on a day to day basis, which also means she is missing out on creating certain memories due to her condition.
My dad has supported my mum and ourselves over the years and will continue to do so whilst also ensuring what memories can be made WILL be made as a family.
A lot of people may not know much about MS or how it impacts people day to day this is why I want to take part in this amazing even and spread awareness for other people who may also be impacted by MS.
The MS Trust is committed to ensuring everyone with MS can access the treatments and services they need and deserve. We aim to represent and reach all people affected by MS, from the moment of diagnosis throughout their journey. Your support will allow the MS Trust to continue to train health professionals. Approximately 103,688 people with MS live in areas where there are not enough MS nurses to look after everyone. So, The MS Trust are working with the NHS to fund new MS nurses in the areas that need them most and ensure people with MS have the care and support they need.
