Making Poverty Unfashionable

Story

The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a poverty awareness campaign that challenged participants to wear 1 black dress for FIVE days in a row, to raise funds for the Junior League of London, an organisation committed to promoting voluntary service, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Your LBDI donation will go direct to help the JLL with our community programmes. To put things into perspective, a pint in central London costs around £5, while just £5 buys a gift for an elderly person living on their own or a box or hamper that gifts are packaged in.

£10 buys one of the following:
- Complete set of toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes and soap for a family of 4
- A meal for a family of 4 living below the poverty line

£25 buys one of the following:
- 3 meals for a family of 4 living below the poverty line
- Gifts for each member of a family of 4

£75 buys a hamper of food, toiletries, and gifts for a family of 4 living below the poverty line

£100 buys gifts for 5 women living in Hestia refuges to escape domestic violence

Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated! Thanks very much for supporting the Junior League of London!
