Story
In March 2012 I said goodbye to my cousin Tom Nelson as he set off on a mission as one half of the Daring Dynamos - two cyclists aiming to cycle around the world for the ultimate musical experience, and raise £75,000 for War Child in the process.
Over the last 16 months, Tom has cycled through three continents, covered 22,000kms, and raised thousands towards Daring Dynamos' fundraising goal. So when he asked me recently if I'd run a paltry 13.1 miles to help keep raising funds for the charity he and fellow Dynamo Phil so passionately believe in, I thought it would be a little churlish to say no! So that's what I'll be doing, on September 8 2013, at Run to the Beat in Greenwich Park, London.
War Child is an international charity that protects children from the brutal effects of war, working on the ground in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Iraq and Uganda.
