Story
In March next year, we will be away from home for 16 days and trekking for a long 14 days to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal (5364metres above sea level). We are doing this to raise money for Reuben’s Retreat.
I started working at Reuben’s Retreat in August 2021 and quickly fell in love with working with children and their families affected by complex medical needs. It was an arena completely new to me but the work we do at Reuben’s is so special and makes a real difference
to those who need it.
This is why we have signed up to do this massively challenging experience to support #reubensjourney.
Reuben’s Retreat is a small charity, located in Glossop, supporting families whose children have complex medical needs, with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and also, families bereaved of a child. Every pound donated is used wisely to support families through a variety of means, including: hydrotherapy swims, sensory and movie sessions, animal, art and music therapy, memory-making events and experiences, counselling, holistic therapies, support groups and short apartment breaks.
Reuben’s are currently renovating their forever home hidden away in Howard Park, to create a beautiful Retreat for families to provide a home away from home for a short break. This will enable both bereaved and complexly poorly families to relax, recharge, remember, rebuild and make special memories together.
Reuben's Retreat was born out of the loss of Reuben Michael Graham, who passed away suddenly in 2012. The charity was set up just two days after his passing by his amazing parents, Nicola and Mike.
