Cardiff Half Marathon 2022 · 27 March 2022 ·
So after one cancellation due to COVID and another due to health I’m finally running the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 2nd October 🏃🏼♀️
I’m determined to drag myself around the 13.1 miles to raise money for my lovely Mum who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. After one huge operation, a few days in intensive care, many weeks in hospital (with no visitors for a big chunk of it thanks to COVID!) and six horrendous months of chemotherapy, I’m really relieved and proud to say my Mum is cancer free 🥳💪🏻
I’m feeling very nervous and completely out of my depth as someone who hates running (and I’ve really tried!) but I’m looking forward to raising some money for a great cause 💰
Pancreatic cancer is often a silent disease that doesn’t go diagnosed until the latter stages as it’s symptoms can be misdiagnosed as common complaints such as indigestion or IBS. More than half of people who are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer pass away within three months due the cancer being detected so late 💛💜
There’s definitely been moments where I want to skip a run or my head is telling me to quit mid jog but thinking of how strong and determined my Mum was while she underwent treatment has kept me going ❤️
I am really grateful to anyone who can spare a donation during these hard times and it really does motivate me to put my running shoes and get out (told you I hated running!) so thank you 🙏🏻
Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need 💜💛
