Story
We're taking on the Robin Hood Half Marathon 2024 to raise funds for Hayward House, at Nottingham City Hospital. Hayward House is a hospice and palliative care unit in the grounds of the City Hospital, and is where my mum, Mary Morley, died on 29th January this year.
Hayward House are trying to raise money via their appeal for improvements to the facility, additional nursing and counselling posts for patients and families, and supporting critical research into palliative care.
I am a terrible runner, and until last year had never tried running at all. I managed 5k last year, then stopped running. I took up it up again this year, after deciding I wanted to try and raise some money for the hospice. I am still awful at running, and my aim will be to finish the half marathon, ideally before they re-open the roads and everyone else goes home.
Michael is doing the Great North Run on 8th September, and the Robin Hood half with me 3 weeks later. He is a much better runner than I am!
