Jessica's Kilimanjaro Challenge

Kilimanjaro Challenge · 21 August 2015
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A few months ago my lovely friends laughed when I told them I wanted to climb Kilimanjaro for this fantastic charity. This is not something that has ever crossed my mind especially as i'm not the most active person. However I have a year to train and it will all be worth it if I can meet my target amount for Carers Bucks.
Carers Bucks is a brilliant charity that supports carers who spend their time assisting those in need. Carers Bucks provides such a range of services. Working in a school has shown me the impact of Carers Bucks on young carers in my area and I want to show my support for their services. Children do not always realise they may be a young carer as to them it is the norm. Until I worked with children, who were young carers, I did not realise and appreciate how easy my childhood was. These children spend their childhood assisting a family member who may have a physical/mental illness, a disability or a drug/alcohol addiction. They therefore lose out on a childhood every child should have; time with friends, time for education, time to talk and time to just relax without worry. All those normal things some of us take for granted.
By donating money to Young Carers they will then have the funds to work alongside schools to raise awareness. Children may then be able to identify themselves as a young carer and gain the support they need and deserve.Visit their site to see the amazing things they do:
