Story

I am going to swim 1000 (around 15 miles) lengths at Pontefract Swimming Baths over July and August, I aim to do 30 lengths a time taking me 25 days.

I am doing this challenge to raise money for the Prince of Wales hospice as a thank you for all the care they provided to my grandma during her illness and the support they provided to our family.

My grandma was diagnosed with cancer in October 2011, she was apprenhensive of the hospice at first but in January 2012 she went in for a few weeks for respite and she loved it, the staff were so friendly and caring to her. She loved having her hair done by the staff just before she left.

On Wednesday 6th June 2012 she went into the hospice again, unfortunately a week later my grandma passed away on Wednesday 13th June 2012.

The hospice did their best to get my grandma pain free and make her comfortable in her final days and they did an amazing job. They supported us all the way through and made a difficult situation a little easier.

We cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for us and I wanted to do this to donate to them as a thank you.
