Archie is running an inflatable 5k run on Saturday 20th October and he would like to try and raise some money for the Sick Children's trust.

The Sick Children's trust is one close to our family's hearts as they helped us hugely when Ellie was born. 

They are a charity providing a 'home from home' so you can stay at the hospital when you have a sick child in there. As Ellie was transferred to Addenbrookes hospital about 50 miles away from home from just hours after birth and in there for 6 weeks, we would have been lost without this amazing charity. They provided us with a room for several weeks whilst Ellie was in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Having to be away from your child is the hardest thing any parent would ever have to do, but being able to only be downstairs made it that bit easier as if anything happened we were only minutes away rather than an hour and meant we could spend a lot more time with her. 

Archie found this time very difficult as he was only 6 when Ellie was born and to him this isn't what was supposed to happen. He saw his baby sister with so many wires and tubes coming out of her it was very scary for him as we really didn't know at the time what the outcome would be. It also made the time with him very hard as we spend the whole 6 weeks at hospital but it was nice to have the 'home from home' where they have a kitchen and living room area too as he could then see us without having to be in the hospital ward all the time too. As for any child that environment is difficult. 

It costs £30 a night to stay in one of The Sick Children's Trust's home from homes, and this is all done through charity. So we would like to raise as much as we can to help any other families in the same boat we found ourselves. You never know when you might need a place like this. We never even knew they existed until we ended up in one. 

I think it is lovely Archie said he wants to do this run for charity so lets help him raise as much as he can!
