Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you may or may not know, I have asthma. I was diagnosed at age 3 and it's been a pain in my backside (read: chest) every since. I was a very active child who loved to run and play all the time but I was always bogged down by the wheezing and tightness in my chest meaning I had to leave my friends and find my inhaler. This would be a regular occurrence. Run around, wheeze, get inhaler, sit down for 10 mins, go back to running like a wild child. Repeat. As I got older my asthma calmed down some and I was able to go about my normal day to day business without it ever bothering me, I even stopped taking my preventer in the morning (dear god do not tell my parents or my GP). However, one day out of the blue, I woke up wheezing and a tightness in my chest. I called the GP and they said to go straight down, so I got myself onto a bus. As I sat in the waiting area, it got harder and harder to breathe. Very quickly I realised "oh no, not good", so I shakily got up and went to the reception desk and breathlessly uttered the words, "I can't breathe." I then blacked out and hit the floor. I woke to several doctors around me, oxygen mask on and paramedics taking all kinds of stats. This would be the asthma attack that almost ended me.

Since that day I have been lucky enough to get xolair injections which help control my asthma and I've been relatively well controlled. However about 3 weeks ago when another asthma attack ground everything to a halt. Two and a half weeks off work, complete rest and a couple doses of steroids later - I'm back and more determined than ever to help raise funds for a charity that has helped me so much.

So, chuck me a couple of quid and watch me waddle 13.1 miles of the Great North Run. If anything, it'll give you a laugh?
